Drillers are the front line supervisors at the rig site. They are responsible for ensuring that proper training, safe work practices, and safe operation of the drilling rig is being adhered to. Drillers operate and monitor the essential systems of the drilling rig including: hoisting, well control, mud and power systems found on the drilling rig. Safety is the first priority for all drilling rig personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and government safety regulations
  • Support and promote to all employees the Company’s Policies, Procedures and Safety Programs
  • Ensure safety and support equipment is functioning properly
  • Monitor drilling progress and communicate advancements/changes to Rig Manager
  • Maintain an up to date record of drilling progress
  • Set an example to fellow employees by adhering to all safe work practices and policies. Train new crew members to do the same.
  • Ensure usage of proper safety equipment
  • Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner

Education and Experience

  • Rig Technician Level 3 (Registered and/or progressing in Rig Tech Apprenticeship Program) Or Journeyman Red Seal

Certifications and Licenses

MUST Possess Current/Valid:

  • Rig Technician Level 3 (Registered and/or progressing in Rig Tech Apprenticeship Program) – or Journeyman Red Seal
  • Enform H2S Alive Certification
  • BOP 1st Line Supervisor Certification
  • Current Special Oilfield Boiler certification
  • Fall Protection for Rig Work Enform Certification
  • Rig Rescue Enform Certification
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Confined Space Entry and Rescue Certification
  • EGSO

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Require valid drivers’ licence and vehicle
  • Responsible for own transportation to and from worksite each day
  • Ability to financially sustain lodging/meals in non-camp situations
  • Must be able to complete and successfully pass a Pre-Employment Physical ( This will be arranged by CWC Ironhand Drilling)
  • Must be able to complete a Pre-Employment drug test. (This test will be arranged by CWC Ironhand Drilling)
  • Ability to work outside in Extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat/cold, and exposure to loud noises
  • Ability to work in face paced/repetitious environment
